A lovely house on a very quiet road. Everything we could possibly need was available inside and outside. The house is very spacious and fully equipped. The air conditioning was a blessing, much needed during this heatwave. The pool water was the warmest we had ever swam in. We were close to lots of leisure attractions, all within a short drive

We visited four beaches within a few miles, it was bliss swimming in the clear, blue Mediterranean. Also a lake where everyone, paddle boarded and rode pedalos. The visual splendour of Collioure was a favourite with all of us. We dined in several different places, the village restaurant, Cafe Artisan was very good, the proprietor speaks English. We walked there, some 600 steps, each way, quite a winding path and steep in places but a good workout. The children took there scooters.

Blackett family,

Had two fabulous weeks in September in this very lovely villa. It was all it promised and so much more. Vera and Paul the local agents were so helpful and very professional. The property was immaculate , comfortable and very well designed.
Would definitely consider another visit to this beautiful part of France, and were to stay would need no consideration, the 'Harris's every time 👍

Jeanette Edmonds ,

Our first time in this region of France and we had a really lovely stay. A very spacious property for a family of three. Very nicely furnished, maintained and spotlessly clean. Everything we needed was catered for. Also a wonderful pool in the back garden where many an hour was spent cooling off. Laroque Des Alberes is a very pretty and quiet village with lots of character and charm. Very friendly people, excellent restaurants, wonderful architecture. Special mention to the monthly food and drink festival - Glorious!! Gorgeous beaches within easy driving distance and numerous other pretty villages to explore, Coilloure and Ceret being 2 we visited. I would highly recommend this property and location for people wanting to explore this beautiful part of France. Merci Bien

The Bailey family,

We enjoyed our week in this lovely, spacious villa. A very restful place to spend a week's holiday, with easy access to the mountains or the beach... or ideal for just lazing by the pool. We found some interesting walks on the doorstep with wonderful views. Paul recommended a wonderful restaurant (http://www.cotesaisons.fr/#auberge) for our wedding anniversary - but do book early, we were lucky to get a reservation. The air conditioning in the villa was welcomed on a few very hot days but being up the hill there was often a cooling breeze which helped keep the temperature down. We loved the village of Laroque and walked through the peaceful orchard to the village on most evenings, as well as in the morning to buy wonderful bread and croissants. We visited the local town of Ceret (art museum, swimming in the river), and enjoyed a day trip on Le Petit Train Jaune - but do arrive early and don't rely on online tickets to guarantee the train time of your choice. We also visited Collioure on a windy day and enjoyed seeing the sights there. The week went by far too quickly and we all really enjoyed our stay.

Karen Shackleton,

Lovely Villa, interesting village.
Even before we arrived I had the sense that everything was going to be fine with this villa...you never really know what your going to get when booking independently do you! But the owners were very efficient and sent out receipts for payments, info sheets on the area, directions etc and were very quick in responding to any email questions I threw at them. The villa was very clean, had a fully stocked kitchen including plastic plates and cups which were ideal for the youngest member of the family, and also to take out pool side and not worry about anything being knocked over. The pool was lovely and was warm enough to be able to swim from early morning to late at night. There were no flies or mossies here! Although the pool and garden borders the residential road and footpath, it is very well enclosed and it feels very private. It is a very quiet area. Beautiful views of the mountains. The walk into the village is very interesting. We had 3 children with us and it took us about 20mins. There were some hills to negotiate, but nothing major. The village itself had several restaurants, we ate out once, and had a lovely meal. There is also a pizza takeaway 2 boulangeries, charcuterie, small supermarket, pharmacie and a tourist information. There is a huge supermarket a 5min drive away. The tower is worth a visit for the views. Mountains on one side and ocean on the other. We enjoyed a day trip to Couliourre, but our first attempt ended in disaster as there was simply nowhere to park and the traffic was a nightmare. The following day we went to Argeles Port and took a boat trip to Coullioure which was much more successful...so I wouldn't recommend driving to Coullioure unless you want to get up insanely early and beat everyone else to it! We also tried to get to Ceret but had to abandon because of terrible traffic. Another great day out was a trip on the train Jaune. Catch it Villefranche de Conflent and do a return to Mont Louis. Kids loved it! I would thoroughly recommend this villa, I don't normally feel I could return to many places, but this one I definitely would be happy to return to for another fab holiday. P.s the Wifi was very easy to connect to and very reliable!

An Excellent Villa
We are regular visitors to this lovely village and it is the second time that we have stayed at this beautiful villa, fortunately finding it on the last occasion that we visited the area. Now that we have discovered it we will certainly continue to use it in the future. The villa is everything we could wish for, it is peaceful and exceptionally comfortable, providing all we needed. Consequently we spent many happy hours there, most spent in the pool enjoying the sunshine. We are incredibly fortunate as Paul and Vera are very friendly and maintain the villa extremely well whilst David and Liz are very supportive and welcoming. A definite advantage is that while the villa is located in a very peaceful area it is also close to the main facilities in the village just a short walk to the restaurants and local shops. Whilst in previous years we have always visited La Cueva, a very good restaurant, we were a little disappointed with the service this year however we would thoroughly recommend Le Catalan which is also in the older part of the village in a wonderful spot and the food is amazing. We love this villa it is perfect in every way and for anyone considering a holiday in Laroque we would certainly recommend this excellent villa.

Perfect perfect perfect !
We took a long time to choose our holiday home this year, following bad experiences in previous years ! Prior to our holiday we found the owners to be friendly, helpful and accommodating. The booking procedure, directions and and paperwork were received in good time. We found the property easily, thankyou ! The house is just what we needed for our party of 5 ; 3 of us in the upstairs bedrooms, and our elderly parents were chuffed with a downstairs suite ! The property was immaculately clean and tidy, and was furnished with everything we needed, including FreeView so we could watch some Olympics ! The wireless network worked perfectly throughout our stay, and made a teenage girl's holiday with Mum and Dad more bearable ! Outside, we spent all day, and most evenings , around the 30c pool ! And we were blessed with very, very hot weather, and as such, sleeping in air conditioned bedrooms was fantastic ! We know this part of Languedoc very well, love this village, and would definitely return if its not fully booked ! The local representative was friendly and helpful too, thankyou.

We as a family of five in our first visit to this region of France, were delighted to find the modern villa perfectly presented with lots of space. The owners, David and Liz Harris had been most helpful in answering pre-holiday enquiries and the arrangements/directions were spot on. The village of Laroque des Alberes, offers a very friendly welcome with enough choice of services to enable those that do not want to venture far, the chance to relax by/in the villa pool for long periods! The local market on a Wednesday was good, but the one at nearby Ceret on a Saturday would take some beating. The highlight of the area was Collioure, the pick of the Cote Vermeille resorts for charm and beauty. We went by boat from Port Argeles there, as it gets competitive for parking in high season. The local beach at Argeles was easy to get to and also recommend Le Racou Beach on the southern side of Port Argeles. Back to the villa, it is maintained so well by Vera and Paul for the owners and we found them both most charming and efficient in ensuring you got the best from your holiday. The air conditioning and new wireless internet connection were great for our stay. The 'Cafe des Artistes' was a nice central location with a good terrace in Laroque village and Le Catalan Bar, in the square by the church offered good service and atmosphere. Would recommend both villa and area for quality and scenery.

WA, England,

We had a lovely week in Laroque. Liz and David were extremely helpful before, during and even after, the rental (I left my phone charger and Liz sent it back asap). The villa was warm and spacious. The pool (sadly the weather too cool in late October [this year] to use it) looked almost painfully appealing and next time we will make sure we come earlier in the year! Lots of books, games and tv channels for those cool Autumn evenings and the best restaurant we have ever eaten in - a short walk across the valley to the Rock (after dark, a bit of circular, well lit, route back through the village, but still only 12-15 minutes away), La Cueva was astounding. Two bottles of good local wine with the type of meal you never wanted to finish and all for Euro140 for three inc. tip. Not too cheap, but for the best meal you have had in your life? Priceless! The local Pizza takeaway made the fresh pizzas in a wood oven and they were excellent. They even do sweet pizza for dessert - apple and cinnamon on Creme Fraiche, for example. Lots of pretty coastal towns only a few kilometres away, to while away warm sunny afternoons, people watching over a coffee on the harbour. Only 20 miles from the Spanish border, but we didn't feel any need to venture too far. Just relaxed and recharged and wandered through some of the little hill villages in the foothills of the nearby mountains. Snow on the tops after our first night, but disappeared through the week. We would recommend this holiday to almost anybody. Perhaps not a very exciting area for teenagers, but I reckon anybody else would like the area and everybody, teenagers included, would like this excellent villa!

My husband and I spent 3 very enjoyable weeks( from 26th June - 17th July) in this lovely villa in Laroque. The villa was light and airy and very well-equipped. The pool was really well used due to the scorching temperatures! The situation of the house was perfect.Just a short walk through some allotments takes you to the village centre where you can find all the facilities you need - even a Tabac with Internet access where you can print Ryanair boarding passes! We would particularly recommend La Cueva restaurant - lovely food and very friendly service. The property managers, who spoke perfect English, were extremely helpful and keen to ensure the owner's high standards were maintained.
There is lots to see and do in the surrounding area. We especially liked Ceret and Port Vendres.

IS, Scotland,

We stayed in this property for two weeks in June 2010 with two young children. The property was ideal for us and was just as described and shown on the photographs. The property was clean, well maintained and well equipped. The local contact was very friendly and helpful. The neighbourhood was quiet and peaceful and is ideal for anyone wishing to have a relaxing holiday. Our two children had an excellent time and we would have stayed on if we could. It took 45mins leisurely drive from Perpignan airport.
We would definitely recommend this property to friends and definitely considering staying there again.

We've had a lovely week with fabulous weather. We loved Collioure & Carcassonne was a great day out. Came back through the lovely countryside. A great house - warm enough to eat out most evenings

This villa in Laroque fitted all the criteria required when I was looking for a villa near to the coast in the South of France - own pool, three double bedrooms, large living area, locating within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Our party consisted of 2 couples and one five year old. Booking the villa was simple, having direct contact with the owners. One couple and the five year old took the upstairs bedrooms, whilst the other couple took the downstairs bedroom with en-suite. You never know exactly what you are going to get when you book online, but we got more than we expected. Firstly the directions that we were provided with were first class so finding the place after a very early morning flight was simple. The property was very clean on arrival and evidently is well maintained. The villa is huge with a fantastic utility / washing area where we washed costumes and towels etc. The dishwasher meant we were spoilt and had more time to relax by the pool!! The pool was an added bonus and a winner with everyone! Little touches like books, dvds, games were much appreciated and made the accommodation feel very homely. The views of the mountains and the local area from all windows were amazing. Laroque village itself was a 5 minute walk away with some lovely little restaurants, patisseries etc. and the nearest supermarket was only a 5 minute drive just outside Laroque. Cafe D'artiste in the village offers very simple yet French cuisine and is very welcoming, owned by an English couple. The food was tasty and the wine was lovely!! Would recommend anyone looking for a relaxing break in the South of France to definitely give this villa a try!
